Trusted by Coaches & Athletes Nationwide

We have worked with teams and individuals from:

Our entire program has gained an edge because we have trained the mind better than our opponents. Our players are more confident and focused, especially during the toughest moments when we need them to be at their best.

Jake Gilbert

Former State Championship FB Coach
Current College FB Coach

Without mental toughness, one mistake can lead to a long slump or a couple long innings pitching. Coach Carnes’ mental tactics helped me in high school and continue to help me today pitching at the highest level.

Ryan Pepiot

MLB Pitcher

As a QB, our son helped to lead his 6A football team to back-to-back state runner-up titles. Grateful to Ben Carnes and for the mental training program which prepared our son for the toughest situations on the field and that will follow him in his personal life.

Parent of Former Athlete

The mental training I did with Coach Carnes was just as important—if not more—than my physical training. Whether in high school, college, or now in the real world, I continue to use these tools regularly!

Nick Ferrer

2x NAIA National Championship QB

The academy put together by Coach Carnes gives our entire program the ability to have a systematic approach across all teams in targeting areas of growth for mental development.

Josh Bryant

State Championship
Golf Coach

The mental side of sports is not talked about enough. This year I was able to improve the mental side of my golf game and the results were incredible. Being mentally tough and learning to let go of bad shots is crucial to maximizing performance.

Frequently asked questions

What is MTP One?

MTP One is a 1-on-1 mental training program designed to help athletes improve confidence, focus, and performance under pressure. Each session is personalized to your specific needs and goals.

Who is MTP One for?

MTP One is for high school, college, and professional athletes who want to train their mindset just like they train their body.

We also work with younger athletes, but not every young athlete is ready for this type of training. To get the most out of MTP One, athletes need to be able to focus, engage in conversations about their mindset, and apply what they learn to their sport. The youngest athletes we usually consider are 11 years old.

A consultation call to discuss what is going on and some insight into how your son or daughter is feeling about things will help us determine if it will be a good fit.

How long does the program last?

The initial MTP One program includes four sessions, providing athletes with a strong foundation in mental performance training. After the initial sessions, athletes can continue training at any pace that fits their needs, whether that’s weekly, bi-weekly, or on an as-needed basis. The flexibility of MTP One allows athletes to receive ongoing mental training support throughout their season or in preparation for high-pressure competitions.

How does mental training improve performance?

Just like physical training strengthens your body, mental training builds focus, resilience, and confidence, helping you perform at your best in high-pressure situations.

How long does it take to see results?

Many athletes notice improvements in focus, confidence, and emotional control within just a few sessions. Long-term success comes with consistent training and application.

How is MTP One different from sports psychology or counseling?

MTP One is not counseling or therapy. There is absolutely nothing wrong with either of those—most of our team members have their own individual therapist that they work with from time to time, and we fully support that. However, this program is different. In MTP One, we won’t be spending as much time talking and processing emotions; instead, we focus on the action side—what specific steps an athlete can take to start performing at a higher level. It’s not that one approach is better than the other; they simply serve different purposes.

MTP One is also different from traditional sports psychology. While some sports psychologists work in a clinical setting and can focus on mental health concerns like anxiety or depression, MTP One is a performance-based training system. Our focus is on developing mental skills like confidence, focus, and emotional control—tools that athletes can apply immediately in training and competition. This is a hands-on, practical system, designed to help athletes take control of their mindset and compete at their best. Again, not better or worse…just different.

What sports does MTP One work for?

MTP One is designed for all sports where mental toughness, confidence, and focus are key to success, including football, basketball, baseball, soccer, golf, tennis, wrestling, and more. We work with everyone from professional race car drivers, rodeo riders and barrel racers, recording artists, musicians, business owners, and more. You don’t have a football brain or a basketball brain, you have a human brain. The skills and tools used to take back control of your brain span well beyond the athletic field and are something that you will be able to use for the rest of your life!
